reflect back on my year as Ms. Wheelchair Minnesota 2004
As my sisters get ready to compete for the title of miss wheelchair America 2016 I
reflect back on my year as Miss Wheelchair Minnesota 2004
What a fantastic experience that was and what fantastic ladies I meant and that I am still friends with today
I did not win the title but that is not what matters the most to me
What matters the most is I cannot believe how much I came out of my shell the Year I was Ms. Wheelchair Minnesota 2004
To this day I stick up for myself and I am more confident in myself and every day I feel beautiful and know that I matter and that is what is important
To this day I continue to advocate for people with disabilities because that is the most important thing and someone in this world has to make a difference for us even if it is myself I have so many sisters that do the same thing every day and I'm sure they would say the same thing that year as Miss wheelchair for them and for me was the best thing that could ever happen to them and every year as the pageant approaches we gain more sisters
We may not always meet in person but that doesn't really matter no matter what you are always be a part of the miss wheelchair family
To my new sisters that are competing this next week the most important thing that I can tell you going through this experience myself is to be yourself
Don’t try to be someone your not
Be yourself that is the most important thing that I can give you going into this week
You are going to meet fantastic people fantastic lady is fantastic judges have a great time take it all in remember it only happens once
And don't be hard on yourself if you don't win because you know what your winners no matter what
It’s important that you take this experience back to your state and continue to advocate for people with disabilities no matter what your platform is
I am 32 years old now and I cannot believe that it's been several years since I competed and I didn't even expect it when I won I just went as a new experience and something fun for me to do
To this day being Ms. Wheelchair Minnesota 2004 has opened up so many experiences for me
It continues to amaze me how much I've accomplished
It continues to amaze me how much I've accomplished
so one more time to my new Ms. Wheelchair sisters no matter if you win or no go into this week expecting nothing and just enjoy yourself and be yourself cuz that is the most important thing You will come out of this week with more than you have ever expected I love you all very much and have the best time that you can have
From your sister Ms. Wheelchair Minnesota 2004 misty Yanish
Pump update
one more update for today I'm sorry it's a little late
here's the info about my appointment yesterday
my doctor and team are very pleased with my progress and they want me to just keep taking my time and learning my new self
and let them know as soon as possible should I need anything
we did not fill the pump yesterday it's a little too soon so they want me to come back next month on the 19th and they were try filling the pump then
they did not want to press on me and poke on me quite yet because I still do have a few stitches that are still working their way out
they want to give my body another month to heal before they start poking around to try to find the porch and please you don't worry I have enough medication in my pump to last that long
I actually found out yesterday that my pump is on a really low dose she decided to turn the pump down and I actually didn't even know until yesterday until the doctor said do you realize that your pump is on a really low dose and I said no did they turn it down and she goes yes we did turn it down
so that is probably another reason why often I am so tired at one point and another point I can be just fine and wide awake cuz my body is just adjusting to everything and she told me yesterday that it's probably going to be that way for a while you have to realize you went five years with maybe sometimes you were getting medication and maybe you weren't so your body is just adjusting to having a full time dose of medicine when you are supposed to get it
so friends as of now I'm just going to keep taking my days as they come in experiencing this new body of mine everyday because everyday is different and I'm just going to go from there like I've said before I will periodically give you updates on how I am doing
I love you all very much have a great night and I will see you in the morning love misty
From Misty
ok friends
I have had a lot of people ask me why my ex boyfriend is not talking to anyone in this building that I live in
I need to get this off my chest and I'm only going to say it once
I write about a lot of things so tonight I'm going to write about this
I have no idea why he's making the choices he's making and why he's doing the things he's doing I have no control over what he does
I have not really spoken to him since the day he broke up with me
I'm choosing to respect his choices and give him his space
I do not have to like his choices or agree with them but I'm giving him his space
now here's what I need from you friends
I need you to respect the fact that I don't know why he's making the choices he's making and why he's not talking to anyone in the building I personally don't know why
if you have questions you must go ask him because that's the person you must ask
as for myself my heart still hurts and I really don't have any answers myself so I'm asking you please do not ask me about him unless I bring it up I'm trying my hardest to deal with this in the best way I know possible
I am a strong confident woman but I'm not going to sit here and say seeing them everyday doesn't hurt because it does and I wish I had more answers than I do but I don't so I'm dealing with it in my own way so please give me my space and when I want to talk about it I will
my friends in my building have been fantastic and keeping me up on my toes like they always do no matter if I have a good day or bad day but they also give me my space and they seem to know when I need my space
like I said at the top of this post I'm only saying this once please respect the fact that I am respecting his choices and giving him in space if you need to know why he's doing the things he's doing you need to go ask him yourself because I have no answer for you I'm dealing with my emotions and trying to figure out things for myself please go ask him instead of coming to me
if I want to talk about this whole situation I will come to you and talk to you about it
please don't take any of this the wrong way but I needed to put it down somewhere and usually when I write a post it on Facebook because my page is private so it's not like everybody can see except for my friends
if you do not like this post just remove yourself from my friends list and that's all I have to say about this
I'm asking you one more time please respect my choices on this whole situation I love you all very much have a great night misty
